There’s Always a Good Reason To Make These Mashed Potatoes

There is always a reason to make mashed potatoes. Whether you’re having a big family gathering or just crave some for lunch, everyone loves a creamy smooth potato dish. There are a lot of schools of thought around how to make the best-mashed potatoes, but this recipe trumps them all. Instructions

  1. Peel and chop 3 russet potatoes and put them in a pot with cold water with salt.
  2. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and put them back in the pot.
  4. Add in 4 tablespoons of room temperature butter, 1/4 cup of room temperature sour cream, and 1 clove of minced garlic.
  5. Start mashing the potatoes and add in warmed milk 1 tablespoon at a time until they are the consistency you want.

  1. Use cold water to cook the potatoes so the water comes up to the temperature at the same time to cook the potatoes evenly
  2. Use room temperature or warm ingredients so you don’t bring down the temperature of the hot potatoes, which will affect the texture of the mashed potatoes.
