These Pear Tarts Make for a Unique Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 pack frozen puff pastry sheets
  • 4 medium firm-ripe pears
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 °F. Take out the pastry sheets, break them up and put them on a baking tray. Allow to thaw.
  2. Place a large skillet over a medium-high heat. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and add the pears, already cored, along with 1/2 cup light brown sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until the pears are tender.
  3. Top each pastry sheet square with some pears. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the mixture is browned.
  4. Drizzle the brown sugar syrup left in the pot onto the tarts and garnish with powdered sugar.
