With Super Bowl Sunday coming up, you’re probably already thinking about what to serve your guests as the biggest sporting event of the year gets underway. Here’s how you can prepare pretzel bites that will be sure to help your Super Bowl party become a success.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pretzel salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • Cheese dip of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Pour the water, sugar, and yeast into a large bowl. Stir until blended and allow to stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the flour to the bowl and mix. Then, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until soft and tacky.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and allow it to rise for about 45 minutes to 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  4. While you wait, preheat the oven to 400 F and fill a large pot with water until halfway and place on high heat.
  5. Make the dough flat and divide it equally into four pieces. Then, roll each piece into a log and chop them into 1-inch pieces.
  6. Add baking soda to the large pot and reduce heat to medium. Add pretzels and allow them to simmer for 15 seconds. If you can’t fit all of the pieces in at once, do the same process with the rest.
  7. Sprinkle salt over every piece of dough and bake in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Serve with the cheese dip of your choice.
