This Classic Cordon Bleu Will Simply Melt In Your Mouth

This French dish is a real treat for anyone lucky enough to be invited to your dinner table. The mixture of the crusty crumbs, the melted cheese, and the delicious ham make it much more than the usual chicken breast you have for dinner. The best part about the Cordon Bleu is that it’s so incredibly easy to make—and yet you’ll receive all the admiration in the world for it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 white flour
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Create a pocket in each chicken breast by cutting it all along the sides. It should look like a butterfly when it is open.
  2. Stuff each chicken breast with one slice of ham and one slice of cheese, and then close them together. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, mix the eggs and the Dijon mustard.
  4. Preheat an oven to 350 F.
  5. Heat the oil in a large pan.
  6. Dip the chicken breasts one by one in flour, then in the egg mixture, and then cover them with bread crumbs.
  7. Move into the hot oil and fry for 4 minutes on each side until the bread crumbs are golden brown.
  8. Move onto a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Enjoy.
