Mashed potatoes are a staple side dish and a must at any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner table, but getting them perfect can be tricky. Here’s one tip that will improve their flavor a lot.
Coming from the TikTok page of the comedian Jourdyn Jeaux Parks, this tip is so genius that we wonder why it’s not more common. Parks recommends cooking potatoes in a mix of chicken broth or beef stock and water, instead of using just water for that.
“I personally like the skin on my potatoes,” she says. “So I wash them, then I rub them down with avocado oil. But if you don’t like to keep the skin, you peel your potatoes, you can cut your potatoes in half, then you add a cup of water and put them in either chicken broth or beef stock depending on what you’re going to serve the mashed potatoes with.”
This way, you can get delicious mashed potatoes that match your main dish perfectly. It requires little to no extra effort and the result is definitely worth it!
