When it comes to cooking great food, the taste isn’t everything. The best chefs know that a dish has also got to look the part in order to make a splash. The presentation needs to be pretty, stylish, smart, and well thought out. Here are three top tips on how to make attractive garnishes to help you cook like a pro.

Cucumber Twist

Cut the end off of a cucumber and diagonally slice off two thin discs. Each disk should look the same. Stack both disks together and cut a slit through both slices from one edge to the center. When you’ve done this, hold each end with a different hand and twist in opposite directions. You can then use this to top curry dishes or salads.

Citrus Garnishes

Citrus garnishes are ideal for cocktails and zesty deserts. Peel off some strips of lemon or lime skin and boil them in water. After they have boiled for 10-15 minutes, leave them to dry and sprinkle on some sugar. Now they’re ready to be presented!

Carrot Swirls

These carrot swirls are perfect for party foods, side dishes, and salads. All you have to do is very thinly peel a carrot and stick it in a loop on a cocktail stick. Once it’s been left in a curled position for about five minutes, take off the stick and you’ll see that you have a pretty carrot swirl.
