Trying to Freeze Your Bananas? Use One of These Three Methods

Bananas are one of those fruits that you can use in pretty much any recipe and they’re usually available all year long. Their only downside is that it doesn’t take them long to go bad, and if you don’t intend to eat them fresh, you can freeze them by using one of these three methods.

Method 1: Whole Fruits

If a recipe that you want to try calls for the use of whole bananas, or you simply want to eat them that way, you should freeze them whole. The only thing you should do before placing them in a sealed bag is to remove the peel because things can get tricky once the bananas are frozen.

Method 2: Smaller Slices

Bananas are usually cut into slices before being frozen, especially if you’re going to use them in smoothies and ice cream. It’s recommended to refrigerate your banana slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet for about two hours before placing them in a sealed container or bag and storing them in your freezer.

Method 3: Mashed Bananas

Mashed bananas are gaining traction as a vegan egg alternative in many sweet dishes, especially banana bread. If you’re thinking of freezing them, place your mashed bananas in a freezer-safe bag, label it with the cup measurement, and don’t forget to squeeze the air out before placing the bag in the freezer.
