It is not always easy to know what the best ways are to look after your frying pans. Tough grease, burnt foods, and stains can be hard to get out, and it is not clear that excessive use of washing up liquid won’t make your food taste bad. Here are 3 tips to help you maintain better pan health.

Don’t Over Wash

It might sound counter-intuitive, but it is sometimes better to actually not wash your pan too thoroughly. In big soup and casserole pots, the burnt bits of food at the bottom of the pan will actually make your food taste better. The best way to clean these pans is to lightly scrub the pan in vinegar, wash out with water, and then leave to dry.

Leave to Cool Down

One of the worst things you can do to your pan is to wash it while it’s still hot. This can cause the base of your pan to warp and become misshapen. Always leave your pan to cool before washing.

Hand Wash

A dishwasher is a great way to clean your pans. It saves time, effort, and can sometimes do a better job. But if you are serious about cooking and want your food to taste great, it can sometimes be a good idea to wash by hand. This can keep some of the flavors in the pan which will then infuse the food you cook in it.
