One of the best classic fall activities is apple-picking. It’s fun for all ages, which means it’s great to do with your friends or with kids. But when you get home, unless you really love fresh apples, you probably won’t be able to eat them all before they go bad. Therefore, you need some ideas for how to cook with them, and here are a few.

Apple Crisp

One of the simplest recipes, which also uses up a lot of apples, is apple crisp. It simply requires rough chopping as many apples as you can fit in your baking dish, and creating a quick crisp or crumble out of oats, brown sugar, and butter. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Apple and Cheddar Pie

Apples and cheddar make a delicious combination. You can add some cheddar on your crust for those amazing cheese crunchies on top, and you can add some into the filling as well. The salty and sweet combo will blow you away.

Applesauce

Applesauce makes a great snack for both kids and adults, and homemade is especially good. This is perfect for when you’ve waited a little too long to use up your apples and they’re starting to go bad. Since you’ll just be cooking them all up it doesn’t matter if they’ve gone a bit soft.
