Many of us have our favorite go-to cooking equipment and utensils. But when making these decisions, there’s so much out there to choose from. For example, cast iron pans versus non-stick pans. There are big pros and cons to both, so here are a few arguments for and against each.

Non-Stick Are Easy to Clean

As the name suggests, these pans are great at not letting food get too stuck on. Just use a scourer and some washing-up liquid and they’ll be squeaky clean. Cast iron pans are much harder to clean.

Cast Iron Are More Durable

Cast iron pans will last way longer as they’re stronger. They also can be used with metal, whereas non-stick ones will be scratched and damaged by this.

Non-Stick Are Much Lighter

These are easy to lift and to store. Cast iron pans require some strength and thought to manage. They are even heavier when full of food which can make cooking with them a challenge.

Cast Iron Have Less Chemicals

When the non-stick coating wears away or is scratched off, this is then very bad to ingest. For this reason, cast iron pans are safer as there’s no risk of accidental ingestion.
