Zuppa Toscana Is The Best Fall Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 finely diced onion
  • 6 cups water
  • 6 oz chopped bacon
  • 4 cups chicken broth/stock
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 10 large garlic cloves, peeled and minced
  • 1 kale bundle leaves, stripped and chopped
  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage
  • 5 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4” pieces
  • parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Get a large pot and start cooking the chopped bacon. Set the stove to medium-high and leave the pot on for 5 to 7 minutes. When the bacon is brown, you can take it out from the pot and place it on a plate with paper.

In the same pot, with 1 tablespoon of the bacon fat, cook the Italian hot sausage. Make sure that you break it into pieces and leave it on for 5 minutes. When done, place it on a plate with paper.

The next step is to cook the onion for 5 minutes and include the garlic as well. Continue cooking for 1 more minute together.

Pour 6 cups of water and 4 cups broth into the pot and wait for the mixture to start boiling. That’s when you need to add the potatoes. Cook together for 13-14 minutes.

Include the kale and sausage to the mix. Wait for the zuppa toscana to start boiling.

Pour in the whipping cream , salt, and pepper to your taste.

Remove the pot from the stove and serve it right away. Decorate the plate with parmesan and bacon on top.
