When you are eating a steak, you want to enjoy every bite. This is why it isn’t only important to cook the steak properly but also to tenderize it beforehand. There are several ways you can do it, but some are better than others. Check out the best ones below.

Overnight Marinate

Leaving a steak to marinate overnight will infuse it with more flavor but also make it more tender. This will especially be the case if you use an acidic marinade. It takes a bit of patience, but it does the job.

Baking Soda

Baking soda does a surprisingly amazing job of tenderizing the stake. Generously coat the steak with baking soda and leave it alone for up to 24 hours. During that time, baking soda will break down the fibers in a fast and efficient way. Just remember to thoroughly rinse the steak after to prevent baking soda from affecting the flavor.

Fork Poking

Perhaps an unconventional method, but one that definitely works. Take a fork and simply start poking the steak with it. Make sure to get as many holes as possible on both sides. This will break the connectivity tissues at a much better rate than meat mallet and works faster than most other methods.
