Frozen peas are often a staple that many people always have in their freezer. Boiling them to have as an easy vegetable side dish is ideal. But this lovely green legume can be turned into much more interesting meal options than just a side of peas. Here are some ideas for exciting frozen pea dishes.

Pea Pesto

Peas are ideal for making pesto. Just blitz some cooked ones up with basil, garlic, lemon, oil, and seasoning. You can add parmesan cheese if you like or leave it as is to keep it vegan. This delicious green pesto is perfect for stirring through pasta or gnocchi.

Pea Houmous

If you’re a fan of houmous, then you have to try making a version using peas. Again, you’ll want to blitz up some cooked peas along with cooked chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. This is great for dipping vegetable sticks or crisps into and is ideal for packing in as much veg as possible.

Pea and Ham Soup

A classic comfort meal that’s easy to make. Boil some peas and then add some stock and blitz them with a stick blender. Add some cooked ham and any other flavorings you’d like and heat through. Serve with some crusty bread.
