Wine bottles with cork are challenging to open without a corkscrew but not impossible. If you ever find yourself in this type of situation, here are some ways that you can try.

Push the Cork Inside

Using a clean utensil, push the cork inside the bottle. This will allow you to enjoy your wine, but keep in mind that you will have to finish the entire bottle in one sitting. Also, make sure that the cork isn’t too dried out because it might crumble, and you’ll have to strain the wine to drink it.

Use as Key as a Corkscrew

For this one, you will need a serrated key. Insert the key slowly inside the cork while wiggling it so you don’t push it into the bottle. Once the key is nestled inside the cork, start twisting it while pulling it at the same time towards yourself. It might take some time, but you will eventually get the key out.

Slap Method

There are several variations of the slap method. You can place a bottle inside a shoe and then hit the shoe against the wall until the cork starts coming out. Another option is to wrap the bottom of the bottle in a towel, place it upside down between your knees, and start slapping it with a shoe. In both cases, you need to proceed with care so you don’t break the bottle or open it all the way and spill the wine.
