Bread Chicken in an Exciting Way With These Options

When making breaded or fried chicken, the typical choice for breading usually involves either flour or bread crumbs made into a “bath” with eggs and spices.

While those two choices certainly result in a tasty end product, if you are looking to do something a little more exciting with your next breaded chicken recipe, there are other options! Consider using these three alternative breadings!

Corn Flakes

Corn flakes are a popular breakfast cereal that work great as a breading when chopped up a little bit and placed on chicken breasts or chicken tenders. They are especially crispy when baked in the oven and fried, adding a nice textural twist.

Panko Bread Crumbs

Panko bread crumbs are different from your traditional bread crumbs since they are made from only the white part of the bread and not the crust. This results in a lighter and airier breading for your chicken that results in an end product that isn’t so heavy.

Crushed Pecans

Believe it or not, crushed pecans work great as a breading for chicken as well. They are a bit sweet, so keep this in mind when choosing side dishes and a sauce to go with them. We love dipping pecan-crusted chicken in honey mustard sauce, for example.
