Check Out These Cakes That Look Like Colorful Rugs

LA-based designer and stylist Alana Jones-Mann is also a talented baker who makes these gorgeous cakes. She uses buttercream to decorate them and make them look like colorful rugs and blankets. We’re absolutely in love with her work and invite you to follow her Instagram page where she shares the cakes she makes with over 170k followers.

“I don’t have a plan or anything when I start,” Jones-Mann told LA Times. “What’s weird about the shag cakes is I think a lot of people think I purposely made it to look like a shag carpet. And that was never the plan. Other people started calling them that.”

She didn’t fight it but instead embraced the way people see her art. She finds inspiration in fashion, music, and design from the ‘60s and the ‘70s, her favorite decades. Before she started making these cakes, she didn’t think it was possible to combine her passion for art and baking, but she ultimately found a way to combine them into something beautiful.

She makes geometric patterns, floral patterns, colorful and black-and-white designs, and they all look equally stunning. Check out her DIY projects if you want to try creating your own colorful cakes!
