Butter is a delicious treat, providing sweet, rich, creamy flavors to many dishes from baked cakes to sautéed vegetables. But it is highly caloric and full of many ingredients that people are trying to keep out of their diet. If you want to continue to cook your favorite dishes but don’t want the baggage that comes with butter, try some of these worthy replacements.

Olive Oil

This is probably the number one fat when it comes to sautéing anything, and there’s a good reason. It’s tasty but relatively neutral and it is easy to find. Use olive oil instead of butter when cooking eggs, vegetables, or fish.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil has a similar texture and fat content as butter, so it works nicely as a replacement. It does have a stronger flavor, so stick to dishes that only call for a little bit of butter if you want to substitute coconut oil.

Avocado

Avocados are delicious on their own, but they can make a creamy, tasty substitute for butter as well. Puree your avocado to develop a buttery texture and use it in your favorite baked goods or simply to spread on toast. It is a much healthier alternative and adds a unique flavor to all your dishes.
