Check Out This Poached Pears Dessert

By cooking and sweetening fruits, you can create some of the most delicious, indulgent desserts out there. These poached pears are lightly spiced and go fantastically when paired with ice cream, cream or custard.

Ingredients (to serve 4):

  • 8 pears, peeled
  • 1/2 cup of caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup of red wine
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions:

  1. Heat the sugar in the water, until it dissolves and the liquid thickens.
  2. Add the peeled pears into the pan, and top up with the wine, spices and lemon juice.
  3. Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from the heat.
  4. Serve the pears with some of the poaching juices, as well as cream, ice cream, or custard.

Delicious, easy, and quick to make, poached pears are the ideal after-dinner dessert option if you’re hosting guests.
