With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, you’re probably looking at what you can do to create a festive atmosphere. Well, if you’ve watched any James Bond films, then you’ll know that the classic vodka martini is the drink of choice of this legendary spy. Here’s how you can prepare this elegant drink to welcome in the new year in style.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  • green olives
  • strips of lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Freeze each martini glass for 15 minutes before making the drink. While optional, this step is great if you’re looking for some extra cool refreshment.
  2. Choose whether you’re in the mood for a stirred martini or shaken, like 007 himself.
  3. For a stirred martini, pour vodka and vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir for about 20 seconds until chilled. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with an olive and a strip of lemon zest.
  4. For a shaken martini like Mr Bond enjoys, pour your vodka and vermouth into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake until chilled on the outside of the shaker and pour into a glass, garnishing the martini glass with an olive and a strip of lemon zest.
