You’ve probably heard about cucumber sandwiches and their role in British tea culture. But you don’t actually have to enjoy tea time to eat them. You can have them anytime you crave a quick snack.

Cucumber sandwiches are easy to make and can be ready on your plate in five minutes.

How to Make Cucumber Sandwiches

To make a cucumber sandwich, you will need to get a loaf of sliced plain white bread (the softer, the better), cucumber, and a cream cheese spread.

While you can use plain cream cheese for cucumber sandwiches, a tastier option is to make a cream cheese spread. Combine room-temperature cream cheese with chopped dill and chives before adding a pinch of salt, ground pepper, and a splash of lemon juice. Mix well until all the ingredients are well combined.

Once you have your cream cheese spread ready, spread it generously on two slices of bread. Next, cut the cucumber into thin slices and line them on one bread slice, making sure they overlap so you get cucumbers in every bite. Top with other bread slices and cut the crust.

After that, all that is left to do is to cut them into triangles or bars, place them on a plate, and dig in.
