Candied nuts are one of the best snacks to have if you’re craving something sweet; although there is often butter and sugar involved, the nuts themselves provide a lot of great nutrients like protein, fiber, and iron and don’t take long to make.

What’s fun about candied nuts is that they’re very versatile, and you can really personalize them to whatever flavor you’re looking to achieve. They also make great gifts. So, if you can’t satisfy your sweet tooth, turn to one of these homemade recipes instead of reaching for a candy bar.

Walnuts

This recipe only takes 5 minutes of cooking and 5 minutes of setting, which means you’ll be chowing down in only 10 minutes. Combine walnuts, sugar, and butter in a pan until the sugar is melted. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet, wait until it’s set and they’re ready for eating.

Pecans

The recipe for pecans couldn’t be easier. Combine salt, water, brown sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Toast the pecans on the stove for a few minutes, then toss in the sugar mixture into the pan just long enough so that pecans are coated evenly. Put on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and that’s all!
