Wooden cooking utensils have a great look and feel in the kitchen. But one of the most overlooked things when it comes to these kitchen tools is regular care. Here are some essential tips on how to care for your wooden cooking utensils to make them last a lifetime.

Cleaning Your Wooden Utensils

After use, wash wooden utensils with warm, soapy water. Avoid soaking them in water. Prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to split and crack. Use a soft sponge or brush to gently scrub away food particles. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately with a towel.

Regular Oiling

To prevent drying and cracking, regularly oil your wooden utensils. Food-safe mineral oil or beeswax are great options. Apply a small amount of oil to a clean cloth and rub it into the wood in a circular motion. Let it soak in for a few hours or overnight, then wipe off any excess oil. Oiling not only maintains the moisture level in the wood but also enhances its natural grain.

Removing Stains and Odors

If your wooden utensils develop stains or odors, rub them with a slice of lemon and a sprinkle of baking soda. This natural cleaning method helps remove stains and neutralize odors.
