The perfect omelette can say much in very few words. It testifies to a certain degree of culinary skill, patience, and the ability to whip up delicious meals in a short space of time. Here’s how to make the perfect omelette in a few simple steps.

Breaking Eggs

A good omelette is usually made with 2-3 large eggs, although you could make a larger omelette if you wish. Break each of the eggs into a mixing jug and make sure that no egg shells drop into the mixture. If they do, this can ruin your omelette.

Whisk and Season

Next, beat the eggs until the yolk and the whites are completely intermixed. The eggs should become a yellow color. You can do this with a whisk or with a fork. When it’s all mixed, season with salt, black pepper, and some mixed herbs.

Think of Toppings

Before you start frying your omelette, you need to decide what toppings you want. These can vary from cheese, mushroom, mixed vegetables, ham, to some combination of all of these. The trick is to prepare these before you cook the omelette. Fry the toppings in a separate pan and when they’re done put them to one side.

Don’t Overdo it

The number one rule is to make sure you don’t overcook the omelette. Preheat some olive oil on medium heat and then add the egg mix. Let the omelette cook and solidify gently for at least 3-5 minutes.

Add Toppings

When the omelette has gently cooked, serve with your pre-cooked toppings. Enjoy!
