Marmitako is a very tasty potato and fish soup that is recognizable with Basque fishermen. It’s also very simple to prepare. This recipe is meant for 4-6 bowls. Check out the method below.
Ingredients
To prepare the tasty marmitako soup you should get:
1 chopped green bell pepper
1 lb. raw tuna
1 lb. yellow potatoes
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 yellow onion
1 minced garlic clove
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
chopped Italian parsley leaves
Before you start cooking, you need to peel and dice the yellow potatoes and cut the tuna in 1/2-inch cubes.
Instructions
Put the tuna in a bowl together with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt.
Heat the oil on medium heat in a pot. When it becomes hot, you can cook the onion and bell pepper for 8 to 10 minutes. Include the garlic, potatoes, and a little kosher salt. Cook for 3-5 more minutes.
You should now add the smoked paprika together with 3 cups water. Leave the pot on the stove and wait for it to simmer. Continue cooking for 15 more minutes. Check whether the vegetables are soft.
Add the tuna pieces and cover the pan. Leave it to the side 3-5 minutes. Top it off with parsley. Enjoy the marmitako soup while it’s hot.
