How to Properly Reheat Mashed Potatoes

Some foods taste great as leftovers, but that’s not the case with all of them. Potatoes, for example, are known for losing all their taste and flavor if left for several hours, and that’s true for most meals made with potatoes. If you’ve ever tried eating day-old mashed potatoes, you understand what we’re talking about. Fortunately, there is something you can do in order to reheat mashed potatoes so they taste fresh again.

Revitalizing Them

Simply throwing your leftover mashed potatoes in the microwave won’t make them good again. The main thing you need to understand is that they have dried since you last ate them, so it’s important to add some moisture back to them. You can achieve this by pouring a splash of milk into a single serving of mashed potatoes and microwaving them for 15-20 seconds. Take them out, mix well with a fork, then add another splash of milk and heat again.

Just Like New

Repeat this process a few times until you’re satisfied with the consistency of your leftover potatoes. This way, you’ll be able to reheat them in minutes and have a quick dinner ready in no time when you don’t have time to prepare something else. Just make sure you’re reheating small portions.
