Aluminum foil is a useful item found in virtually every kitchen. It has many different purposes, and one of the ways people use it is for cooking. It’s convenient for wrapping the food and putting it in the oven, covering a pan that doesn’t have a lid, and lining a baking sheet when you’re out of parchment paper. But is cooking with aluminum foil actually safe for you?

Risky Business

There was a research that found the link between high concentrations of aluminum in the brain and Alzheimer’s disease. It was also confirmed that high aluminum intake can negatively affect human cell growth.

Overall It’s Fine

While it’s true that some aluminum foil can leach into the food when used for cooking, it takes a lot of it to harm your health. It’s not recommended to use it like this all the time, but you can safely do it occasionally.

Finding the Balance

If you’re at risk for Alzheimer’s disease, it’s probably best to avoid using aluminum foil in cooking as much as you can. Otherwise, you can use it from time to time and not think about it too much, as the available research shows it only has negative effects when used in high amounts.
