If your love for cheese knows no bounds, you probably have no limits when using it as a topping—especially on pizza. This beloved Italian dish would be incomplete without cheese, but is there such thing as using too much cheese on your pizza?

Follow the Recipe

When adding cheese to your pizza, it’s always safe to stick to the amount of cheese that your recipe calls for. You can add a little bit more if you’re a huge pizza lover, but don’t go overboard. Certain types of cheese, such as mozzarella, will release moisture as they melt and your pizza will be very soggy if you use too much.

Other Ingredients

Using too much cheese is all fun and games until it stops crust and other ingredients from shining. The taste of pizza may overpower the aroma of other toppings that you’re using and that’s another reason why you should tread lightly when using it.

Type of Pizza

The type of pizza you’re making will determine how much cheese you should use as a topping. Classic cheese pizza calls more cheese than other types, but sprinkling enough cheese to cover your pizza is usually enough with other varieties.
