The holiday season is a time for show-stopping desserts that bring cheer and festivity to your table. But even if it’s not the holidays, if you’re looking for a last-minute, eye-catching centerpiece, a macaroon tower might be the perfect thing. Here’s how to make your own.

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces sweetened shredded coconut
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional for flavor)
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites and salt until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the coconut mixture.
  3. Drop by spoonfuls onto a lined baking sheet and bake at 325°F for 15-20 minutes.

Constructing the Tower

You’ll need cone-shaped foam or sturdy cardboard base (you can make your own cone from poster board) and toothpicks.

Make sure your cone is stable. You might want to cover it in a layer of plastic wrap. Start at the base of the cone and attach macaroons one by one using toothpicks (half inserted into the cone, half into the macaroon). Cover the cone completely. Once the entire cone is covered, add final touches with more chocolate, edible glitter, or any other festive decorations.
