Crème brûlée is one of the most famous French desserts. It is a custard dessert that is baked, then covered in sugar and torched at the end of the process. The result is a crunchy top with a soft and flavorful center. Although it is normally served only at high-class restaurants, it is super easy to make at home, so give it a shot!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300F and place 6 oven-safe ramekins in a baking dish.
- In a bowl, pour in 2 cups of heavy cream and microwave for about 3 minutes or until it just starts to bubble.
- Separate 4 eggs and put them in a bowl.
- Add in 1/4 cup of sugar to the eggs and whisk until it becomes light yellow about 3 or 4 minutes.
- If any skin has formed on the cream, remove it with a spoon, and then start pouring about 1/4 cup of it into the eggs while whisking until all of it is incorporated.
- Add in 1 tablespoon of vanilla and a pinch of salt and whisk.
- Evenly pour the mixture into the ramekins and then pour boiling water around them in the dish so they’re covered by 1 or 2 inches.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes and then sprinkle on 1-2 teaspoons of sugar on top and use a burner to caramelize it.
- Bon appetite!
