This easy caramelized onion dip is guaranteed to become your new party MVP. Packed with rich, caramelized flavor and ready in minutes, it’s the perfect dip for chips, veggies, or even spreading on your favorite sandwich. So ditch the pre-made stuff and let’s get started.

Ingredients:

  • 2 yellow onions, caramelized
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chives, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Caramelizing Onions

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil (olive or vegetable)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Begin by caramelizing the onions. Slice the onions thinly. In a large skillet, heat the butter and oil over low heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt to help draw out the moisture. Cook the onions slowly, stirring occasionally, for 30-45 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise in a mixing bowl. Blend until smooth and creamy. Season the dip with salt and pepper.
  3. Once the onions have caramelized, let them cool slightly, then finely chop them. Fold the caramelized onions into the cream mixture. Add the chopped chives.
  4. Cover the dip and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. Enjoy!
