Flapjacks are a really easy but delicious sweet treat to make. They’re very versatile and are delicious when warm straight from the oven. However, they’re also great for taking in packed lunches, or for having around as an afternoon snack. Oats have slow-release energy, so help keep you feeling full and energized. This recipe includes maple syrup and pecans, for a super indulgent and satisfying sweet snack, that is so simple to make.
Ingredients
(Makes 12 Flapjacks)
- 4 cups oats
- 5 ounces salted butter
- 4 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1.5 cups chopped pecans
- Pinch of salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 ℉.
- Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
- Melt the butter in a pan on a gentle heat.
- Add the maple syrup and stir.
- Add the oats, making sure to stir well to mix thoroughly.
- Take the pan off the heat, and then add the chopped pecans. Stir these through.
- Transfer this mixture to the baking tray. Smooth it out to ensure it’s even.
- You can press some pecans into the top if you like. Sprinkle some salt over and then place in the oven for 30-40 minutes.
- Leave to cool and then cut into even-sized squares.
