Mulled Apple Juice is a Great Non-Alcoholic Winter Drink

Something about the cold dark evenings can make many of us yearn for a glass of something warm and mulled, but this doesn’t always have to be alcoholic. If you’re looking to cut down on your alcohol consumption this year, check out this simple recipe for a delicious mulled apple juice which will have you reaching for another glass as soon as you’ve finished your first.

Ingredients (to serve 4):

  • 2 cups of fresh apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon of star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
  • 1 sachet of allspice
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, peeled

Instructions:

  1. Heat the apple juice in a large pan, until it’s starting to steam. Reduce the heat to low.
  2. Add the other ingredients and stir through well. Heat the juice for 10 – 15 minute.
  3. Strain before serving.

Comforting and warming, this mulled apple juice is the ideal alternative to mulled wine.
