When it comes to coffee, coffee beans aren’t the only way to enjoy the beverage. You may have heard of mushroom or broccoli coffee, but have you heard of peanut coffee? Peanut coffee is the newest drink trend and it’s a great alternative to an espresso or latte. But what exactly is it?

What is Peanut Coffee?

Peanut coffee was first created by Virginia Gold. According to owner James Harrell, it’s made during the peanut oil extraction process which leaves a powder that looks similar to espresso. This powder is then blended so that it becomes a similar consistency to traditional ground coffee.

The coffee is made with 100 percent peanuts, making it high in protein, acid-free, and caffeine-free. If you want a buzz, the company also has a caffeinated peanut coffee. While you may expect the coffee to have a rich peanut flavor, it actually tastes very similar to traditional coffee with a smooth, nutty, roasted flavor.

How Do You Make It?

Peanut coffee is made the same way that traditional coffee is made. The peanut coffee powder can be put into an espresso machine, French press, or drip coffee maker. It really is that easy!
