  • 1/4 pound large shrimp
  • salt
  • 2 10-inch flour tortillas

After a long and exhausting day at the office, you may feel as if you don’t have the energy to cook dinner each evening. Fortunately, there are some simple, healthy and delicious recipes that you’ll be able to whip up in no time. Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson shared some of her favorite weeknight recipes that are easy to make at the end of a busy day.

Italian Sandwiches

For this recipe, all you need is four slices of your bread of choice, mozzarella cheese, milk, eggs, and flour. Fire up the stove and pour some olive oil into your pan while basting the bread slices into a mixture of egg, flour, and milk. Once you’re done soaking the bread, place the slices of Mozzarella cheese between them and cook the sandwich in the pan until the bread is golden brown.

Pancetta Pasta

Taking just a few minutes to make, the pancetta pasta requires just three ingredients, namely pasta, cubes of pancetta (bacon), and olive oil. You could also consider sprinkling parmesan cheese for some added flavor.

Orange Ice Cream

If you have a sweet tooth, then here is a quick dessert for you. Start by slicing up some oranges and juicing them before pouring the juice into a bowl. Pour icing sugar and cream into the mix and whisk up the mixture. Place the concoction in the bowl and leave it in the freezer until solid.

Struggling to make that perfectly cooked fish? If you follow these simple steps, you’ll be able to create a deliciously succulent salmon in under 20 minutes. Impress your friends with this recipe or whip it up for a stylish lunch!

Ingredients

All you need for this recipe are two salmon fillets, a lemon, some pesto, breadcrumbs, and parmesan. If you want some extra bulk on the plate, potatoes, broccoli, and green beans are good candidates.

Flavor the Salmon

Take your two salmon fillets and place them skin down on a baking tray. Spread green pesto over the whole surface of the salmon, and try to make it as even as possible.

Mix Breadcrumbs

Next, mix the breadcrumbs with parmesan cheese in a small mixing bowl. Toss together to combine, and then sprinkle the cheesy breadcrumb mix over the salmon. Press the breadcrumbs into the fish to ensure it sticks, and then drizzle olive oil over it.

Bake and Serve

Put the baking tray on the top shelf of the oven with the heat on 400 F for 10-12 minutes. Bake until the breadcrumbs are crispy and golden and the fish is opaque. Serve with a squirt of lemon juice and your choice of vegetables. Enjoy!

It can be very useful to know how to prepare a variety of noodle dishes. Quick and simple to make, if you want to improve your all-round cooking skills, these noodle recipes are for you.

Vegetable Stir-Fry

One of the easiest and most rapid noodle dishes you can muster is the vegetable stir-fry. Simply fry up a medley of vegetables with your choice of noodles and it’ll be ready in under 10 minutes. Winning combinations often involve bell peppers, courgettes, red onions, garlic, and eggplant.

Udon Noodle Spiced Lentil Curry

The thickness and meatiness of udon noodles is really satisfying, and you can use them for any of these noodle dishes. They’re particularly nice with a creamy spiced lentil sauce, and you can cook it with coconut milk and fried lentils.

Chickpea and Eggplant Curry

Fry your chickpeas, masala paste, onions, and garlic with your choice of noodle while you grill chunks of eggplant in the oven. After 20 minutes, combine the eggplant and serve.

Crispy Tofu and Egg Noodle

Not only are eggs a delicious addition to most meals, but they are also packed full of protein and minerals. If you don’t have much time on your hands to prepare them but still want to get your egg fix, there’s a simple solution. Here are three foolproof ways to prepare eggs in the microwave in minutes.

Scrambled Eggs

To make scrambled eggs in the microwave, simply break two eggs into a microwaveable bowl and beat them together until the yokes are all mixed in with the egg whites. Next, season them with salt and pepper and mix them before microwaving for two minutes on high heat. They’re best served on crunchy toast or in a rocket salad.

Baked Egg

To make poached eggs in the microwave just break an egg into a small microwaveable dish. Try to make sure that the egg fits snugly into the dish. When the egg’s in, pierce the yolk so that it doesn’t explode and cook the egg in the microwave for about one minute. Once the egg white has turned white, serve with some salt and pepper.

We all rely on canned foods form time to time, especially when we do not have much time to prepare dinner, or lunch. But is that the correct way to grab a quick meal?

Canning is a method of conserving food in which the food has firstly been processed and then sealed in an airtight container. Tasty? Depends on who you ask, but healthy it is certainly not.

For examples vegetables, canned veggies are often stripped of fiber and any other nutrients and are usually loaded with sodium. If you are eating them, you are consuming a large amount of sugar, additives, sodium or flavorings that detract from the good nutrition, which make it harmful, without you even knowing about it.

If canned foods are your to-go, we would recommend you to go for frozen foods instead. They have no added sodium, and plus you can choose the portion you want to make and just keep the rest in the freezer.

We often go for canned foods as they are cheaper, shorter in preparation time and more convenient. Today you can literally find everything in cans, which may be appealing and always a good thing to store in your kitchen cabinet, but try not to make it a habit. Rather, go for the fresh and healthier version of these same foods.
