Tamale Pie Will Be Your Favorite Dinner Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 cup frozen corn kernels
  • 1 bell pepper seeded and diced
  • 1/2 diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 15-oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 jalapeno, minced

For the topping:

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup finely shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup finely ground cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Instructions

Set the oven to 400 F degrees.

Get a cast-iron skillet and add the olive oil. Once you heat it you can include the onions and let them cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Next, add in the ground beef and cook it for 4 to 5 minutes. While cooking, try to break it down.

Include the hot peppers and the bell peppers, then cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the seasonings and mix everything very well together. Finish off with the corn kernels and diced tomatoes. Let the mixture start boiling, then take it away from the heat.

Get a bowl and mix the butter, milk, salt, and cornmeal. Transfer the mixture to a pot and wait for it to start boiling. Mix constantly. When it becomes thick, pour it to the beef mixture.

Add cheese on top and let it bake for 20 minutes.
