Few things can beat a delicious home-cooked pizza, but a good pizza is won or lost on the quality of its dough base. Here are some simple tips to make that base as crunchy and delicious as possible.

Try a Lean Dough

If you want your pizza base to be crispy and crunchy, try using a lean dough. This means that the dough is not made from eggs or butter. These ingredients are what make the base softer and more doughy.

Set Aside in a Greased Container

Once you have mixed your ingredients together and worked the dough, set it aside in a greased container such as a large mixing bowl. The grease ensures that the dough doesn’t stick to the edges, as this could ruin the quality of your base. It is important that the container is completely sealed, because otherwise, it will lose its texture. Leave for at least 90 minutes, or overnight in the fridge.

No Air Bubbles

After the dough has rested, make sure you knead down any air bubbles. This will help make sure the dough will rise properly.

Don’t Over Bake

Roll out the pizza to about 12 inches, and bake on high heat for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, make sure to keep checking its progress. A pizza can turn from perfect to a burned mess in the blink of an eye.
