A blender is one of those kitchen tools that most people can’t live without because it’s incredibly useful and versatile. If you happen to be one of them, you probably use it to blend all sorts of different foods, but these five don’t belong anywhere near your blender.

Mashed Potatoes

A lot of people try to make mashed potatoes inside a blender in an attempt to speed up the process, only to learn the texture won’t be fluffy and soft because the potatoes released too much starch.

Hot Liquids

Blending hot liquids inside a blender is a huge no-no because they’ll create too much pressure when trapped inside and potentially blow off the lid during the blending process.

Spices

You can technically put spices inside a blender, but this kitchen gadget won’t do them any good, and a spice grinder is a better tool to use in their case.

Super-Frozen Foods

It’s common to see ice cubes and frozen fruits being added inside a blender, but they may destroy the blades of standard models and leave you with uneven chunks in your smoothies.

Dried Fruits

Foods with a sticky texture, such as dried fruits and sun-dried tomatoes, shouldn’t be put inside a standard blender because they have the potential of ruining your blades by sticking to them.
