This Authentic Tom Yum Recipe Is An Absolute Flavor Bomb

This Thai soup tom yum is an amazing combination of creamy, acidic, juicy, and all around completely satisfying. Although it seems like this soup would be difficult to make the process itself is simply putting in the ingredients at different times and letting it all boil together. Ingredients

What gives this soup it’s famous flavor is the combination of kefir lime leaves, galangal, and lemongrass. You can find these flavors at most grocery stores in the Asian section or at a local Asian market.

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling some water in a pot.
  2. Rip the kefir lime leaves in half, peel some garlic cloves, smash and cut the lemongrass stalks, smash some chili peppers, and chop up the galangal. Add all of these ingredients to the water and let it infuse for 10 minutes.
  3. If you are using raw seafood, put it into the water at this point.
  4. Add in mushrooms, and roughly chopped Roma tomatoes and white onions.
  5. Boil this for a few minutes and then add in a bit of sugar and some fish sauce.
  6. Finally, pour in evaporated milk and some roasted Thai chili paste.
  7. Finish with cilantro and lots of fresh lime juice.
