Chai is one of the most popular flavors in India and is most commonly consumed in its liquid form. Cardamoms are also commonly found in savory food such as curries. This cake forefronts these two ingredients to create a cake that is very delicious and unique. Here’s a recipe for how to make it.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 6 ounces of self-raising flour
  • 6 ounces of sugar
  • 6 ounces of butter
  • 10 ground up cardamom pods
  • A cup of tea with two teabags in
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and the sugar together until you have a consistent and smooth fluffy paste. Make sure it’s not grainy, and then you can add your eggs one at a time and beat into the mixture.
  2. Meanwhile, boil a kettle and brew your cup of tea with two bags in it for about 5-10 minutes. Allow this to cool down before adding it gradually into your cake mixture. Now you can add your flour gradually by sieving it into the mixing bowl.
  3. Add your cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves to your batter. Mix in well. Put the mixture in a baking tin and bake on 350°F for 30 minutes. You can add a butter cream icing if you like to give it extra oomph. Enjoy!
