Apple cider vinegar (or ACV to those in the know) is one of the most prolific wellness ingredients of recent years. With claims of its benefits ranging from clearer skin, to improved digestion, to better focus, it’s clear that to some extent these health claims should be questioned. However, we do know that apple cider vinegar contains lots of essential antioxidants, and there is evidence of its effect as a digestive aid for some. With this in mind, here are three ways of consuming apple cider vinegar, if you do decide to include it in your diet.

ACV Tea

Ingredients (to serve one):

  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup of hot water

Instructions:

  1. Stir the vinegar and honey into the water.
  2. Let the cinnamon stick steep in the water for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Serve.

ACV Salad Dressing

Ingredients (to serve 4 people):

  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of tahini

Instructions:

  1. Mix the oil and vinegar together until they emulsify.
  2. Stir in the tahini, season with salt and pepper, and then use to dress your salad.

Apple Juice

Ingredients (to serve one):

  • 1/2 cup of apple juice
  • 1/5 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Instructions:

  1. Stir the honey into the apple juice until it dissolves.
  2. Stir the vinegar through the apple juice.
  3. Put the lemon slice in the drink, add a little ice if desired.

When consumed by itself, apple cider vinegar can taste too sharp and can actually inflame the throat if drunk every day. Try mixing it, as in these recipes above, to get all of the health benefits without any of the downsides.
