Truffle is a strong flavor and a little goes a long way. If you buy a pot of truffle pesto, you may be wondering what to do with it (other than slathering it over pasta, of course). Here are three ways to enjoy that truffle flavor, without letting it overpower your food.

Pizza

Whether you’re making it from scratch or opting for storebought, truffle pesto can make a pizza really special. Mix one tablespoon of pesto with some oil, and spread it over the pizza base. Then, add toppings such as mushrooms, mozzarella, ham, or shredded greens, all of which the pesto will complement beautifully. Bake in the oven and enjoy!

Lasagne

Truffle pesto can intensify meaty flavors and add a depth of umami which is hard to resist. As you’re making the lasagne, stir two tablespoons of pesto into the tomato sauce, to bring out all of the flavors beautifully. You can also drizzle a little oil-infused truffle pesto over the top of the lasagne before it bakes.

Mushroom Soup

As you’re frying the mushrooms to put into the soup, add two tablespoons of pesto to the pan. This will transform your soup, from a fairly basic meal into something seriously special. If you’re a real fan of truffle, you can also mix a little into some cheese before grilling it on toast to eat with the soup.
