Poached eggs are one of the most popular ways to have eggs and they are delicious as a breakfast or brunch meal. However, they are also one of the trickier eggs to get just right. Use these tips to get perfect poached eggs every time.

Add salt and vinegar to your water

It may sound like a strange combination, and most people would understandably not want their eggs to taste like vinegar. However, if you add a little splash of either white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, it will not impart a vinegar flavor to your poached eggs. What it will do is help your eggs to remain intact and avoid them breaking apart in the water.

Stir the water before adding your eggs

Another way to get your eggs to remain intact is to stir the water with a spoon before adding them slowly in. This will help them to remain whole and avoid you losing lots of the egg to the water. It’s important to note that lowering your eggs slowly into the water is also crucial.

Cook them on a low heat

Many people poach their eggs into boiling water, which can prevent the eggs from cooking as a whole and mean they break apart. The best way is to have water that is very gently bubbling and to cook your eggs on a low heat for anywhere between 2-3 minutes. After this, it’s best to use a large spoon with holes in it to remove the eggs from the pan and drain them of excess water.
