BBQ parties are one of the most fun and delicious ways to spend time with your friends and family during hot summer days. Skewers are one of the foods that no barbecue can go without, and preparing this dish starts with choosing between wooden and metal skewers.

Wooden Skewers

Usually made with bamboo, wooden skewers are a popular option due to their low price tag and most people opt for them when planning a last-minute BBQ party. The tricky thing about them is that you can’t reuse them again and that you have to be pretty careful along the way.

These skewers are made of wood, so they could easily catch fire and scorch your food if you’re not cautious enough. Make sure to soak them in cold water for at least half an hour before getting ready to grill your meats and veggies.

Metal Skewers

Metal skewers may be a little bit more expensive than the wooden variety, but they’re a pretty good investment. If BBQ parties are pretty frequent in your household, they definitely won’t go to waste.

Usually made from stainless steel, metal skewers have a longer life span than wooden ones. You don’t have to worry about soaking them in water so they wouldn’t burn, but it’s recommended to spray them with some cooking oil so the food wouldn’t stick to the skewers.
