Sugar cookies are a holiday classic. And decorating them can be a fun way to spend a cozy afternoon with friends and family. To help you get the inspiration rolling, here are some decorating ideas.

Stained Glass Cookies

Crush hard candies into small pieces or powder. Place the sugar cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and fill the cut-out centers with the crushed candies. Bake the cookies until the candy melts and fills the cut-out centers, about 8-10 minutes. Cool the cookies, remove them from the baking sheet, and enjoy.

Layered Frosting

Pipe a base layer of icing on your cookie, allowing it to dry completely. Use a contrasting color to pipe designs, patterns, or intricate details on top of the base layer. You can write holiday wishes, draw snowflakes, and so much more!

Dipped and Drizzled

Melt chocolate or candy melts according to package instructions. Dip half of each cookie into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Place the dipped cookies on a parchment-lined tray. Drizzle contrasting colors of melted chocolate or candy melts over the dipped portion. Sprinkle crushed candy canes, chopped nuts, or edible decorations before the chocolate sets for added texture and flavor. It will taste as good as it looks.
