Fall simply wouldn’t be the same without the pumpkin spice latte. The beloved drink returned to Starbucks even before the new season rolled around, and there’s only one thing about it that we don’t love. PSL isn’t the healthiest drink on the market, but you can make it a little bit better with these three quick fixes.

Plant-Based Milk

Pumpkin spice latte simply wouldn’t be the same without milk, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to stick to dairy. To make your order a little bit healthier, ask your barista to replace regular milk with one of the vegan alternatives, such as almond or soy milk.

Less Pumpkin Sauce

Pumpkin spice sauce is also one of PSL’s main ingredients that give it its signature taste. The tricky thing about it is that it’s packed with sugar, so tread lightly when adding it to your drink. Two or three pumps per serving are all it takes to make your pumpkin spice latte delicious.

No Whipped Cream

No matter how much effort you put into switching up your PSL ingredients, none of it will count if you’re topping it with whipped cream. No matter how popular and tasty it is, whipped cream is best avoided due to its high content of sugar and saturated fat.
