Are Frozen Vegetables Less Healthy?

We all know vegetables are super healthy and we should be eating lots of them every day. But fresh vegetables can get expensive, they spoil easily, and sometimes you just want to use frozen ones. But is that okay? Some people seem to think that frozen vegetables aren’t as healthy as fresh ones. Is that true?

Well, according to full-on studies done by actual scientists, frozen vegetables are pretty much just as nutritious as fresh ones. In fact, one study found that some frozen vegetables are even more nutritious than the same ones when they’re fresh. We’re talking stuff like green peas and green beans. That’s because they’re usually at their ripest when they’re frozen but a bit older by the time they make it into stores.

The bottom line? Frozen veggies and fresh veggies aren’t that different from each other when it comes to nutrients. Sure, there might be some differences, but they’re pretty much negligible. The important part is that you’re eating vegetables at all. As long as you are, you’re getting those all-important health benefits. So if buying vegetables frozen makes you more likely to eat them, then do it, by all means! Bon appetit.
