When you think of a peppercorn, your mind does not immediately go to dessert. However, peppercorns of all colors can be essential to making a well-rounded dessert. If you are looking for something different and a little spicy, try using pepper more in your baking.

Icing

If you are going to make a very sweet cake or even something that is naturally a little bitter, try incorporating black pepper into your icing. To make, boil water and sugar together for about 10 minutes while whipping egg whites separately. Add the sugar mixture slowly into the eggs, and then add black pepper at the end.

Pink Peppercorn Panna Cotta

To make this Italian classic, add peppercorns to the mix for a slightly pink color, and an interesting slightly spicy bite. Boil cream, milk, sugar, and the peppercorns to a boil, and then steep. Then, get the gelatin sheets wet and dissolve with hot water. Add the cream mixture and pour into ramekins to chill. Serve with any type of fruit or even chocolate on top.

Black Pepper Cheesecake

To make this recipe, just make a cheesecake as you usually would. But, when you add the cream cheese, also add ground black pepper. This will cut through the richness of the cheesecake and you will be amazed by the flavor.
