Easy Caramelized Onions, and 3 Ways to Use Them

Caramelized onions are one of the easiest ways to jazz up a regular old onion and they add so much to any dish you use them in. This version of caramelized onions is really easy to make and is out of this world. Here’s how to make them, and what to eat them with.

Ingredients

  • 2 red onions
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pan
  2. Add the onions and fry on a low heat – low and slow is the trick here
  3. After about 10 minutes of slow frying time, sprinkle over the sugar and mix well
  4. After another 10 minutes of frying time, add the vinegar and mix throughout
  5. Fry for another 5 minutes, and then they’re ready to serve
