Fall Casseroles for Chilly Days

Now that we are coming to the end of fall, it’s time to start planning some delicious casseroles. The great thing about casseroles is that they are easy to make and they don’t require a lot of different ingredients. Here are some easy casserole ideas to get you started.

Broccoli and Cauliflower Gratin

The trick to making this casserole taste as good as it looks is to make sure the cauliflower and broccoli are baked to perfection. That means the broccoli and the cauliflower should be soft and have a crunchy cheese melt on top. To make it even better, add a touch of nutmeg to the sauce prior to baking.

Green Beans and Shallots

A green bean casserole is one of the most basic of casseroles to make—all you need to do is bake the beans, mushrooms, and onions together. Typically, they are baked with an aged cheese like parmesan or asiago.

Chicken and Onions

A meat-based casserole turns this into a whole meal, rather than a side dish. A casserole with a chicken and onion base, with some boiled potatoes added, will warm any belly. To make this even more delicious, add some French onion soup mix.
