Plant-based foods have become super popular over the past few years and more and more people are choosing to cut back on dairy, meats, and animal byproducts. Living a plant-based lifestyle is healthier and it’s better for the environment. In the past, there were limited options when it came to eating plant-based, but now with more people doing it, there are tons of tasty options. Whole Foods just released its first-ever plant-based food trends report and here’s what you’ll be seeing everywhere this summer.

Alternative Cheeses

Alternative cheeses used to be tasteless, but now they’ve been upgraded with nut-milk based cheeses and gourmet ingredients like black garlic truffle, dill, and chives.

All-Inclusive BBQ

Now that we’re in the midst of barbecue season, it can be hard for vegetarians and vegans to have options beyond veggie burgers. There are more options than ever that are anything but boring like plant-based hot dogs, Italian-style sausages, and jackfruit burgers.

Plant-Powered Kids’ Foods

It’s not just adults that can get in on plant-based foods. Kids’ foods like cheese, yogurts, ice pops, and chicken nuggets come in plant-based options.

Seafood Swaps

Who knew that the flaky texture of fish could be replicated with banana blossoms and legumes? These alternatives taste amazing in tacos, “burgers”, “fish sticks”, and sandwiches.

Non-Dairy Dips

Ranch and queso will always be popular dips, but plant-based non-dairy ones like “cream cheese”, tzatziki, and French onion are great alternatives for chips and dips.
